Short forest walk
Choose a compact loop near the Nature Centre and lake. Good for 45–90 minutes.

Surrey, British Columbia
Plan Green Timbers Urban Forest with 10+ km of trails, fishing lake, picnic areas and Surrey Nature Centre.
Green Timbers is one of Surrey’s largest parks, with more than 10 kilometres of nature trails, a regularly stocked fishing lake, picnic areas and the Surrey Nature Centre.
Choose a compact loop near the Nature Centre and lake. Good for 45–90 minutes.
Pair trails with Surrey Nature Centre programming when available.
Use the larger trail network for a two- to three-hour outdoor block.
Families, walkers, nature-focused visitors and residents wanting a substantial forest experience without leaving Surrey. It is less useful for someone whose only goal is urban City Centre sightseeing.
Choose Green Timbers for forest, lake and trail time. Choose Bear Creek for a broader family/recreation/arts mix. A first-time visitor with half a day usually needs only one of them.
Green Timbers can anchor a very inexpensive outing: trail walk, lake, picnic and Nature Centre programming when available. Transit or one parked car can keep the whole day simple.
Do not assume “10+ km of trails” means the group needs to walk all of them. Families can stay near the Nature Centre/lake; fitness-focused visitors can choose a longer loop. Check trail conditions after heavy rain.
The lake is regularly stocked, but anglers should verify current freshwater licensing/rules. Picnic areas make the park useful for a low-cost half-day without needing to leave for lunch.
Green Timbers is relatively close to North Surrey urban areas, making it one of the easier major nature experiences to combine with City Centre or Guildford compared with South Surrey beaches.
Surrey is geographically large. Keep nearby experiences together, check current hours and event information, and use the transportation mode that fits the actual distance, group and luggage rather than assuming every Surrey trip works the same way.
